A woman only needs wings to fly. If given wings she can soar high in the sky. On the occasion of International Women's Day, Ek Pahel commemorated 5 elderly/old women from low economic background of the society working relentlessly for a brighter future of their families. These women were rewarded in the fond memory of Smt. Bimla Verma by Mrs. Poonam Sachdeva - Founder, Spicy Sugars, Mr. Naresh Jain - Chairman, Oswaal Books, Mrs. Swaati Jain - Director, Oswaal Books and Mrs. Sadhvi Khanna from Romsons Group. The women were: Prem Kumari - Books Seller, Ram Beti - Factory Worker, Maya Devi - Managing Tiffin Services, Kapoori Devi - Masseuse and Narayani Devi - Milk Seller. On the occasion we also inaugurated Akshara Women's Education Program for women who were denied the gift of education in their childhood due to poverty and gender discrimination. We pledged to give them the Right to Read and Write by providing them functional literacy, general awareness and sensitisation of our constitution, rights and duties.
